UNSEWN CAN KOOZIE DIRECTIONS
can size - water bottle size - zipper bottle size - coffee wraps
Machine Embroidery - Heat Transfers - Fabric Paint - etc.
Once you pick out your embroidery design, monogram, etc., hoop with tear away. Spray a little spray adhesive onto the back of your koozie and place on your tear away that is already hooped. Sew your design. Unhoop and remove the tear away.
Fold right sides together and sew up your side seams. I usually reinforce the top and bottom of each side seam by reversing and going over about 1/4" of the seam. Trim threads and turn right side out and you're done!!!
Monograms work great with these. You might want to test drive your design to see how it reacts to the fabric of the koozie. I have found that using designs that are not stitch dense work best.
I've used a straight stitch as well as a zigzag for the side seams and they both worked fine. I did lengthen my sitch length slightly. because I was getting a little pucker. If you have trouble starting your seam, since you are sewing through form, try placing a small piece of tear away under your seam.
If you are adding ribbon around the koozie, etc., remember that the koozie is made to stretch over the can. If you add ribbon around the "entire" koozie it will take the stretch out and your can or bottle will not fit in the koozie. Most people normally only add a piece of ribbon to the front of the koozie. Add ribbon before sewing up the side seams.
